Oct 15, 2009. #3. There is no way either could match a 15 hp briggs. The 204 you mentioned is actually a 208 and can make up to 12 hp at 675 rpm. If you need more, the 346 makes 18 at 575 rpm. The 118 is only good for 9 hp at 700 rpm.

If this mag is a single or twin cylinder models, you can replace the points and condenser with one of the solid-state Chips sold in the lawn market to replace the points and condenser on small engine flywheel magnetos. I have used one for years on the Fairbanks-Morse mag on my Lincoln 180 DC welder powered by a Wisconsin THD twin.
