Date: unknown. The transmission fails to engage (either cold or warm). When it does, it works flawlessly, both backwards and forwards. Until It is left in neutral for a little while (5 minutes is enough). Jacking the lever from forward to reverse multiple times, will eventually re-engage the transmission.

This light flashing may indicate low system voltage which could be the root of all your problems. Bottom right - Transmission oil filter plugged. This alarm only actiavtes once the coolant temperature is above a certain value, so the fact it doesn't come on right away could indicate it's a genuine alarm.

My D3 also has the 3204 and the pump is mounted on the left side and driven by gears behind the timing cover. My timming cover is off here and there is a nut on the end holding the gear (upper right). There should be 2 bolts and nuts which fasten the pump, so remove them and the pump should slide out the rear.

The Standard D4H is a nice small finish machine. Dunno about using a LGP model for Building or street, finish work as too much squirming around. Hard on the undercarriage. LGP would be good for Water and Sewer work clean up. Digging ponds also. Brush work, hard on the tracks.

Make sure your fluid filters and air filters are checked often and replaced as needed. Inspect the ripper carriage, shanks and teeth for cracks, wear and damage, and inspect your powertrain daily, making sure that it's clear of debris. Check for leaks and loose segment bolts. Machine runs and operates great. Plenty of power. Air temp has been cool since I bought the dozer, but since it is warming up to the 90's I am worried about operating temp. Torque converter temp Is at the hottest after plowing hard reaches 225. Hottest I have seen water temp is about 214. Water temp drops quickly within 5 min.

Original issue: Transmission would not engage when transmission fluid warmed up (180-190F). Added fluid changed transmission fluid, no effect. Suspected Transmission charge pump. While. waiting for pump and other things, ran dozer until tranmsission rose to about 170F but before. began slipping and/or not wabnting to engage.

Mar 30, 2009. #4. This applies to the ET tractors I've worked on (D6 and up) so I'm pretty sure the D4 will be the same. Split the track over the front idler and drive it back a little to give yourself some working room. On either side of the track frame is a circular cover held on by 4 or 6 bolts. Remove these covers.

Something kinda concerns me is the engine doesnt seem very snappy (responsive) like if the turbo is out. But i did the finger spin check and after a quick flick it will spin freely for 1 sec or so. So im thinking fuel delivery. This dozer doesnt have a strainer before the lift pump only the fuel filter before the injector pump.

Dozer was delivered today. Found two tags, the previously mentioned one on the dash in front of the right brake pedal and another on the engines left side. Both are hard to read but appear to have the same info: 78A7177 there also is a letter "D" below the 78A. Under the left armrest/battery cover is a stencil: 4K7507.4/76.

Right first time. D4H III. 9GJ is the only option on the serial prefix. 3304 confirmed. The good news is that aftermarket parts are everywhere. You could probably build a new one for five grand and still have enough change for a three-piece suit and 2 tickets to see Rudolph Valentino at the Regal.

NW central IL: i just bought a d4h xl series 3, its got the heavier tree in the six way blade, 10 more hp, the larger torque converter and trans then the series 2's. the xl has the longer track, for more footprint.the early motors had the 3204, and the series 3's had a 3304 9Z series, which is the same as some D5h's at 120hp, so it should last.....not sure if …
